Historically, our pastor has acted as CEO of the church meaning that he has been involved in much of the day to day administrative function. While it would be impossible to divorce a pastor from some administrative functions, we hope to hire a servant leader whose talents lend themselves to growing the church and developing its members to grow the church. We hope to find a pastor who will be out in the community getting to know and care about its people - presenting Jesus to a community that very much needs to know him. The pastor must be willing to partner with members of Session and the Deacons to manage the day to day church functions so that he or she does not take them all upon himself or herself. Collaborative leadership would be highly valued. We currently have three paid staff members - administrative assistant, choir director, and pianist. The pastor must be able to work with them and lead them so that our church can adapt and grow. FPC Barberton has lead the community, for nearly 100 years, in serving many constituencies. As such, our beautiful church home is important to the community, as a number of groups meet and work there.
