Job Description -
The full-time settled pastor is responsible for leading weekly worship and providing congregational support as required. The following is a list of expected duties:
- Prepare and lead worship services including scripture study, writing the liturgy and preparing the bulletin, sermon preparation, guiding and arranging for lay liturgists, planning music with music leaders, preaching, praying
- Guide the congregation’s examination of our heritage, mission, leadership, connections, and future by providing support and leadership in these areas:
- Strengthening the congregation’s current outreach activities
- Exploring new directions in ministry
- Guiding healthy conversations during ministry and congregational meetings
- Supervise staff
- Participate in Council meetings, Faith Formation Team, Stewardship team, and other meetings as appropriate
- Lead the youth group and their related activities
- Participate in Christian Education activities including Sunday School and encourage participation among the congregation
- Minister to the wider community for funerals, weddings, special worship programs, etc.
- Represent the church in the local ministerium and the community organizations this congregation supports: Out of the Cold and Interfaith Human Services
- Counsel individuals and make referrals as appropriate
- Actively increase faith through study and prayer and encourage the same for the congregation
- Participate in special events including but not limited to Vacation Bible School, Memorial Day activities, community Lenten services and prayer vigil
