Job Description -
Responsibilities: Based on the mission of the Church: plan, coordinate and supervise youth events and activities fostering a call to discipleship among the youth of the community. Major emphasis/focus on ages 12-18 (6th grade and up) with secondary emphasis/focus on elementary ages.
Major functions:
1. Abide to the church’s “protection plan for children, youth, and vulnerable adults.”
2. Develop faith-based programs and activities, including youth Sunday, facilitating activities to maximize participation and experience.
3. Attend worship and Sunday school regularly to foster relationships with the youth of our congregation.
4. Attend and/or arrange supervision for functions to ensure effective and constructive interactions.
5. Plan and execute fundraising events to encourage stewardship to the youth.
6. Coordinate and attend the ELCA national youth gathering with senior high youth. With the pastor, choose adult chaperones to provide proper supervision at the gathering.
7. Inform the Pastor/council of activities/functions that will take place and coordinate these events with the church calendar.
8. Provide typed report for monthly council meetings. Report to be submitted electronically to the Pastor no later than noon the Friday prior to the council meeting.
