Job Description -
Preach and lead meaningful, biblically grounded worship services that inspire and challenge the congregation. Preach sermons that connect Scripture to everyday life and foster spiritual growth. Administer the Sacraments of Baptism and the Lord’s Supper. Encourage lay participation in worship and liturgical leadership.
Provide compassionate pastoral care to members and friends in times of need, including illness, grief, and personal challenges. Celebrate with families during times of joy such as births, weddings, and milestones. Offer counseling, prayer, and presence as a representative of Christ’s love and grace.
Serve as Head of Staff guiding and supporting church employees and volunteers in a spirit of teamwork. Moderate Session meetings and provide spiritual leadership to elders and committees. Work with Session to discern and implement the church’s mission and goals. Support stewardship and responsible fiscal management.
Support and participate in programs for faith formation across all ages. Encourage lifelong learning and discipleship through Bible study, small groups, and special programs. Mentor and equip lay leaders in teaching and service.
Represent First Presbyterian Church within the Buchanan community as a visible and caring presence. Support local and global mission efforts and encourage congregational involvement in service. Build Relationships with area clergy and participate in ecumenical and community events
